Amy Adams Wants To Feel Like Herself On The Red Carpet At The Oscars

Amy Adams has been nailing it on the red carpet this award season. She looked a picture in that red Valentino gown at the Golden Globes and absolutely nailed it at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in that dramatic royal blue Antonio Berardi number but talking at the Oscar Nominees Luncheon, she admitted that she doesn’t always feel like herself on the red carpet.

‘Sometimes I feel like I’m dressing in costume on the red carpet,’ she said, so things are going to be different at the next month. ‘I want to feel like myself, so when I’m on the red carpet this year, you can guarantee that that’s the dress I would wear. It’s not a character’s dress.’

That said, she loves getting dressed on set. It’s part of the reason she waxed lyrical about director David O Russell who cast her for her roles in American Hustle and The Fighter, both films in which costume played a big role. ‘David has created two really diverse, wonderful, different roles for me,’ she said. ‘I’m very grateful for that, and David has a way of challenging an actor past what they think they’re capable of. It’s almost in a way that he sort of keeps on you until you give him what he saw in you, and it’s a wonderful, wonderful thing.’
